Colt 1855 Sidehammer 10 Gauge Shotgun "Pistol"

Hello!

Although this is not a Walker, it dwarfs a Walker (4.5#) by about 2# (6.6#). It was created by someone long ago using a Colt 1855 Sidehammer 10 gauge shotgun that had the barrel cut down, re-curved the top strap, and lengthened the bottom of the trigger guard. Smoothbore barrel is approximately .75 caliber.

It is being offered at auction by Morphy's here in the US and someone has put an initial bid of USD $3750 upon it. No provenance stated. I really would like to know about the history of this gun and what all of the added inletted brass "decorations" have to do with the creator of such a beast. To me, it must have a very personal connection to the maker of this weapon. We will most likely never know.
